A Word From A WWOOFer

Wow.... where to begin! I can't believe how the time has flown since I arrived on the farm 5 weeks ago. I'm not sure where I would be right now if it weren't for Oliver and Chris. I went to 3 other WWOOF farms before arriving at the Glenasmole farm, but they all ended in disaster (those stories are for a different blog). Olly and Chris were kind enough to welcome me under their roof on very short notice. They helped to keep my trip around the world on it's tracks, and I am forever thankful for that.

I am also thankful for all of the amazing experiences I've had during my stay. From herding geese, to making cheese, to chopping trees, to keeping bees. And everything in between. I've learned loads of valuable information about smallholding and beyond. One thing that I have learned is how much work is involved! For that reason, I am grateful that I could offer my help. Helping others is a central goal of my trip, so it is awesome to give a hand where it is needed and appreciated. I've also learned that hard work can be fun! Yes, building fences and moving boulders can be tough. But when you are surrounded by good people and beautiful landscape, it can also be pretty cool. We have accomplished so many tasks over the 5 weeks; it's a really a great feeling. (Don't worry future WWOOFers - there is always more to be done!)

To Oliver and Chris - I can't thank you enough for everything. The hospitality, the knowledge, the great times, and let's not forget the amazing food! (Yes, I will be taking recipes with me.) I also want to thank my fellow WWOOFers Leo and Donovan for being such great companions. It is always better to work with a partner, especially those who are hardworking and friendly. Best of wishes to the Glenasmole farm in the future! I am lucky to be the first WWOOFer, and I would love to visit a few years down the road to see how the farm has progressed.

Cheers folks!
